THE WINNERS OF OUR COMPETITION!!!!!

It was a tough desicion choosing the winners of the photo competition but in the end we chose, in the Number 18, the winner was Isobel in 2N and the runner up was Nicole in 2P. The winner in Number 10 was Anna in 4G and the runner up was Lulu in 5E. We can't wait to get new entries for the competition in March. As well thank you everyone for recycling your computer ink cartridges. When we get enough we will send it of and get some money back and we could do something like adopting an animal for each year group or something else which is green. We can't wait to get more of your photo entries and of course the ink cartridges.

The Green Girls have decided to hold a photo competition!!
You can send in a monthly picture of nature or a something you are concerned about. For a chance of winning take a photo. There is a winner for the Upper School and Lower School. The winner will be announced in assembly on Friday. The deadline this month is Monday the 28th February. Give it to your teacher to pass on to Miss Gillingham

Recycling Ink Cartridges

In Green Girls this week we have discussed how we can keep ink cartridges away from landfills. They are plastic and won't break down and the ink can seep out into water systems. Mrs Woodruff, has signed Pembridge up to Recycool to help out. They will collect all our ink cartridges, refill them and even send us money to be used for future Green initiatives. Drop your used cartridges off in the number 18 and number 10 office, where bags will be hanging with clear labels. Be gentle with your cartridges because if they are damaged they will not be used.

Palm oil is a crop and found mainly in Maylasia and Indonisia.It's used in many foods and products in the devoloped world. It causes deforestation and destroys primates habitat especially the orangutans.
WHY IS IT SO POPULAR?

 Palm oil may be found in some crisps,chocolate,butter,aunt bessies roast potatoes,haribos,crunchy nut clusters,mars bars,cookies,crackers, popcorn,pizza,frozen dinners,breads,kit kats,low-fat diary,soap maltesers and cosmetics.

PLANTING SEASON

This year planting season has began. In Green Girls we have started planting Tulips for the spring. Hopefully ,they will soon grow into beautiful flowers. This was a special event with the lower school joining in. All the lower school girls were paired up with one or two older girls. The process started with filling the bottom of a flower pot with a couple of rocks to allow the water to soak through up the water. Then you would add the soil and place the tulip bulbs in a shallow hole. Remember if you do this excellent Green idea at home ,try not to get messy!

Green Girls Are Back

The Green Girls started again in number 10!

We welcome our New Green Girls and are looking forward for the girls in number 18 to join us for meetings. The team have just started our new improvments and are looking for ideas from anyone, you don't need to be on the Green Girl team!
